The Next Gay Cult Classic?

Does Isla Fisher have what it takes to follow in the footsteps of the Beloved ALICIA SILVERSTONE, LINDSAY LOHAN, REESE WITHERSPOON and most recently, ANNE HATHAWAY?

Can she create an On-Screen character whose Full of Life, Charisma, Fashion and Style; all garnering the attention of Young Girls and Gays across the Country?

While we simply Fell-In-Love with 1995's CLUELESS, 2004's MEAN GIRLS, 2006's THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, as well as The LEGALLY BLONDE franchise, will 2009's CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC, also polish a new color of chromatic authenticity onto the Spectrum of Gay Cult Classic Films?

Rebecca Bloomwood, played by the former Young, Soap Actress, Isla Fisher, is a sweet and charming New York City girl who has a tiny, little problem that is rapidly turning into a big problem. Rebecca's hopelessly addicted to shopping and is drowning in a sea of debt. While Rebecca has dreams of working for a top fashion magazine, she can't quite get her foot in the door; that is, until she snags a job as an advice columnist for a new financial magazine published by the same company.

Overnight, her column becomes hugely popular, turning her into an overnight celebrity, but when her compulsive shopping and growing debt issues threaten to destroy her love life and derail her career, she struggles to keep it all from spiraling out of control. She's ultimately forced to reevaluate what's really important in life.

The story has been reinvented by Hollywood a Million times over. We've seen Brittany Murphy, Jessica Simpson and MANY other Young Starletts portray similar roles. However, this particular film is based upon a widely successful book, written by author, SOPHIE KINSELLA.

While the Theme Song of My ThanksGiving Weekend has DEFINITELY been one of Kanye West's new rhythmic masterpieces, PARANOID, I cant help but to ADMIT that I am NOT ready to board this damn plane within the next few hours.

You all KNOW that I ventured home to Baltimore Wednesday night, as to SURPRISE my family. They weren't expecting me until December 20th, a la, The Christmas Season. Ive been EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE here in Baltimore for the past four or five days...and maybe just a little too comfortable. Being BACK reminds me of the distractions that kept me from remaining so extremely FOCUSED and ON-TASK as it pertains to forging my career forward. However, despite ALL of the Good Food, Pampering and Impromptu Lunches and Movies with Friends, I HAVE managed to REPLY to ALL of my Emails, FaceBook, MySpace, YouTube and IM Messages from across the country.

ALL of these activities were of course soundtracked by Kanye's PARANOID record. It isnt necessarily the Lyrics of the record that have enveloped my spirit and listening ear. Its moreso the UpTempo, Pulsating Beat that Kept Me pressing PLAY...every 3 Minutes and 42 Seconds.

Last night, while watching The Britney Spears: For The Record Documentary on MTV, alongside my sister, I had a few glasses of Wine. I have not had any wine in the past two or three weeks, to be Honest. I become so fixated and consumed by all of the filming, editing, writing, posting, promoting and responding that I do seem to FORGET to schedule, XEMMY TIME.

I LOVE the way wine makes me feel...Relaxed, Artistic & Tipsy.

When Im Tipsy, I tend to think about People, Situations, Circumstances and Life Existence in ways in which I DONT when Im SOBER. Often times, the BEST and Most Creative Ideas come to mind when I've had a few cocktails. I was actually so ALIVE last night, that following the Britney Spears Documentary; which did NOT 'Tell-All', as it was promoted to do, I elected to CALL some of you who have been texting me for the past 6 Months.

It was sorta FUNNY, because my Private Number is Different from my Public Number, and people were NOT expecting to Ever hear from Me. I found it to be so FUNNY because you ALL know how I sound, and Ive only ever read your Comments, Emails, IMs and Texts. I had pretty SIN.Sational, 5-10 minute conversations with some of My Socialites and Celeb.U.Tantes.

Also, reigning in the TOP spot of this weekend's, ThanksGiving, Holiday Box-Office, is the Holiday Comedy that DEFINITELY had Me in Tears; FOUR CHRISTMASES. Starring Academy Award Winning Actress, Reese Witherspoon, alongside 'Funny-Man' Vince Vaughn, the film garnered an estimated $46.7 Million Dollars for its five day total. STELLAR!

The film made me REALIZE just how Intricate it can be, in accomodating the likes of Family, when you're involved in an Intimate, Long-Term Relationship. UGH*...Am I Honestly Ready?

Two of my friends took me to see the film in downtown Baltimore, at the newly opened, LandMark Theatre. Plush Leather Stadium Seating, Wide Screens and Cocktails for Sale made the experience Ultra-Sweet. I was even spotted by two of my Baltimore Socialites, and I was so Happy to meet them In-Person.

Meanwhile, Ive yet to peep this Twilight project that seems to be ALL-THE-RAGE on the Big-Screen right now. Having garnered $120 Million within the past few weeks, this project has received an array of Critical and Commercial Buzz. Starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the project is already on its way to becoming a Cult-Like Classic. Im going to TRY and see it in Burbank by the END of this Week.

Having lost a SIGNIFICANT amount of weight to fill the requirements of yet another Dramatic, Holiday Role, Will Smith plays a suicidal IRS agent. Setting out to make amends, Will's character inavertently Falls In Love; thereby complicating his plans. The film Co-Stars ROSARIO DAWSON, WOODY HARRELSON and MICHAEL EALY.

Ive known about this project for little over a year. I look forward to seeing it in theaters, alongside my Friends, when I arrive HOME to BALTIMORE on Saturday, December 20th.

Truthfully Speaking...

So MANY of you have contacted me over the past few weeks, inquiring about why it is that I have not promoted the Noah's Arc: Jumping The Broom film, here on my site. Accordingly, there are quite a few of you who have sent messages asking me my opinion on the film, and whether or not Ive enjoyed it. To be 100% HONEST with All of you, I still have NOT seen the project. I am due to check it out, here in Los Angeles, tomorrow afternoon, alongside a producer associate of mine. He has gotten his hands on tickets, and Ive accepted the invitation.

I never, TRULY, Fell-In-Love with Noah's Arc. I really started watching the series during its second season, as it premiered spring/summer 2006. Still healing from a 2005 break-up during that period, I did, however, Fall-In-Love with the relationship between the characters of WADE and NOAH. There weren't many instances or situations that paralleled my four year relationship. HOWEVER, there did exist the raw essence of passion, unity and commitment that garnered my attention from several angles. I found a sense of comfort in watching the day to day struggles between the two characters; facing break ups, hardships, and a battle of their emotions. I could relate to the push-pull dynamic of the period of time that Noah and Wade spent seperated, meanwhile, dating other men. There was a familiarity to the circumstances of their relationship that truly pulled on the strings of my heart. I remember having to get in my car, every Wednesday night after watching the show, and driving for hours. I would listen to Van Hunt, Sade, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Brandy and a slew of other artists, whose music had soundtracked a specific period of my life and broken relationship, as well.

In paying homage to writer/director, Patrick Ian Polk, for creating a project that paints media faces on the presense of Gay, Black men in contemporary, mainstream society, I commend him for being 'chosen' as the 'one' who would pioneer fictitious, Gay characters on a primetime network. In going further, it's a paramount accomplishment for any filmmaker to be granted an opportunity to bring his characters and stories to life via the Big, Silver Screen. Though the film has suffered at the hands of Homophobic, Racist attitudes from the 'Powers that Be', only being shown in FIVE theaters, in FIVE major, American cities, Patrick has been able to still pave the way for the next, innovative series.

My central ISSUE with Noah's Arc, as a television program that reflects the lives of Gay, Black men living in America, is its psuedo, 'GroundBreaking' label. I think we, as a community, have confused the term, 'GroundBreaking' with 'First'. The two, do NOT go Hand-and-Hand. There is very little that Noah's Arc presents in the form of plot structure, character development, or influence that has not been WhiteWashed by 'Other' screenwriters, directors or producers for the past 20 years. With extremely stereotypical characterizations of 'The Raging, Gay Slut', 'The MeloDramatic Kween', and 'The Fag Hag', to name a few, these SAME 'Types' have been projected on-screen for Years. There is nothing 'GroundBreaking' about a series that illustrates the lives of Four, Gay, Black friends, living in a prominent, West Hollywood community. There lives are more Comical than Problematic, as their Lifestyles aren't reflective of the core, Gay, Black Audience.

As a film school graduate and a student of Sociological standards regarding Race, Class, Gender and Sexuality, its CLEAR to me that television and film are often created to serve the Fanciful Escapades of its viewers. HOWEVER, when a BLACK Writer/Director/Producer is given an opportunity to use his/her voice to reach the masses, it become his/her RESPONSIBILITY to paint a portrait that is accurate and reflective of the sub-culture upon which the stories are based.

WHERE is the story about the young man who is ousted from his home and ostracized from his family for being Gay? WHERE is the story about the young man who trades Sex for Dollars so he can eat and afford to pay his monthly room rate in the downtown areas of LA/CHICAGO/NEW YORK/DC and ATLANTA? WHERE is the story about the couple who splits up for several months and one partner contracts HIV from one of his rebound pieces? WHERE are the stories regarding the Transsexual/Butch Queen Up-In-Drags who is undergoing a sexual identity disorder? WHERE are the stories that spotlight the Gay Men who hide behind the church and religion as a shield from their internal and external struggles?

These are the STORIES that NEED to be told, hence my NEXT, MAJOR project. The life of a Gay, Black Man, living in America, isnt always painted in Designer Clothes, Fancy Apartments, and surrounded by Supportive, Loving Friends. It MAY be the reality for 15% of our community, but what about the OTHER 85%? I have reached a point in my life, as well as in my career, where I am READY to continue using my Talents, Strength and creative ability to ignite CHANGE. There are ENOUGH 'Love Stories' in the world to keep audiences ENTERTAINED for hundreds of generations to come. There are not ENOUGH 'Realistic Stories' that display Pain, Hardship, Struggle, Sacrifice and Tribulation.

There are MANY layers of The Gay, Black Community and its TIME that we melt off the ICING and start digging through the molding CAKE that frames our existence.

As quite a few of you know, I DO NOT Believe in, nor do I support the notion of the 'ARTISTIC LICENSE'. The 'ARTISTIC LICENSE' in Hollywood is the Free Pass that's offered to Celebrities who are successful in one genre of the entertainment industry, to segway their usual, less than mediocre talents, into another spectrum of the HollyWood system.

For me, I have NEVER accepted the idea of PoP, Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B or Country Stars being given LEAD roles in Major, BlockBuster films. Its very rare, amongst our generation, that such Cross-Genre stars, including WILL SMITH, JAMIE FOXX and QUEEN LATIFAH, have been GOOD at More than one artistic craft. As a trained artist of sorts, I get Upset just KNOWING that there exists TALENTED actors and actresses; some of whom have studied theater for 5-10 years, who arent even being considered for Hollywood Leading Roles, BECAUSE they are automatically being given to Undeserving Stars like BEYONCE, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, USHER, LUDACHRIS and GWEN STEFANI; to only name a few. I have NOT been pleased or impressed with a Screen Performance from a Music Celebrity since I last saw Jennifer Lopez portray SELENA...and that performance came to fruition BEFORE Jennifer even began recording her Smash Hit, 1999 Album.

I know, from my Media studies, that Hollywood Executives make ALL of their decisions based upon STAR Factor and Revenue. HOWEVER, it has been PROVEN that putting a Music Icon on the Silver Screen does NOT guarantee Box Office $ales. Critics usually pan the performances for GOOD reason, and the films, themselves, suffer on both ends; Commercially and Critically, alike.

I will NEVER allow Singers/Musical Performers to Star in ANY of my film and/or Television Projects. I DONT even want them Guest Starring on any Episodes of Television Series that I may Direct or Executive Produce. The job of a Singer/Musical Performer, as it pertains to the Movies and Cinema medium, is to contribute their vocals to the Soundtrack; in which case Ill ALWAYS be using Struggling, UnKnowns.

My mission, as God has already shared with me, is to use the Opportunity that he shall bestow upon me, to Open the Doors for OTHER xtremely TALENTED Unknowns. I will ALWAYS use Theatrically Trained Actors and Actresses, as I will ALWAYS use Costume Designers, Crafts Services, Hairstylists, MakeUp Artists and Musicians who are Up and Coming. My Editors, Lighting Techs and Camera Operators will most likely be Experienced Veterans in the industry. However, its TIME that the Industry resort BACK to the Days in which ONLY real Talent was incorporated into our On-Screen Projects. Now, we only get this Pop Scene Fluff.

Already being HAILED as one of the Years Greatest Stand-Out Screen Performances, HEATH LEDGER takes on the Iconic role of THE JOKER, in this Summers Highly Anticipated, The Dark Knight.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, this addition to the Big Screen adapted Phenomenon, that is the BATMAN Series, shall only intensify the Cult Classic Xistence of this Generational Cross Over Spectacle. Critics and Contemporaries, alike, are already BUZZING about Oscar Nomination Status for the Villian Character, portrayed by the late, 28 year old Thespian; Mr. Ledger.

I was first introduced to the talent of Heath Ledger when he co-starred in one of my FAVORITE, 1999 Tween films, 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU. Playing an eccentric, High School Rebel, of sorts, Heath's vivid performance peered through a Dark Hole of Teenage angst, almost forcing viewers into an intrinsic evaluation of his boundless persona, which extended Far and Beyond the basic role that he had been given to play. Later, Heath would Dare-to-be-Different, starring alongside Other Screen Heavyweights, in such films as MONSTERS BALL, THE FOUR FEATHERS, NED & KELLY, as well as THE LORDS OF DOGTOWN. Heath was determined to not be Type-Cast for his rugged Good Looks; steadily taking on characters whose depth and quiet illustration of strength, would create a sanction of his ability to transform any and all means of emotion, into a 3 dimensional persona of substance and grace.

2006 would give Heath this Ultimate Opportunity, as he would star alongside JAKE GYLLENHAAL, under the direction of ANG LEE, in the Critically Acclaimed, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Heaths performance and portrayal of ENNIS DEL MAR would catapault him into Mainstream, Commercial Gold; solidifying his position amongst Hollywoods Finest. Heath's raw, restrained and tamed motions of feeling, juxtaposed with an array of emotional outbursts, internalized beyond conviction, created an On-Screen entity that has NOT been duplicated since. MANY actors shyd away from playing a Gay character whose Love for another man was as intense and overbearing as his Love for Life in itself. However, Knowing and Understanding the depths of himself, as well as the Career that he wanted to stand upon, Heath took on the Challenge; even changing slight dynamics of the Leading character, while filming.

We lost Heath Ledger on January 22, 2008 due to an overdose of prescribed medication. HOWEVER, he leaves us with a Performance that I anticipate, above every other film that is due to be released between Now and the Early Oscar season. Not since DANIEL DAY LEWIS' performance in Martin Scorcese's THE GANGS OF NEW YORK, have I been more electrified and energized to witness the theatrical delivery of a Villian's wrath.

Very rarely do Critics even consider Summer Films as Oscar and/or Golden Globe contenders. RARELY do actors or actresses of the Hollywood Circuit deliver material and performances so Great and Worthy of Industry Award consideration in the Summer months.

As usual, Heath Ledger DARES TO BE DIFFERENT. Its his portrayal of THE JOKER, which is going to garner THE DARK KNIGHT, the continued accolades and Box Office success that is already piping through the Channels of this Cult Classic Phenom.

I Can NOT Wait to See this Film...STRICTLY for Heath.

...as The RUMORS Circulate about LindSay...

So, Lindsay Lohan, My All-Time Favorite, Young Actress and Teen Queen Celebrity Figure, has also been in attendance of The CANNES Film Festival, alongside her Gal Pal, DJ Samantha Ronson. The Media has created All Sorts of Buzz, for Lindsay was spotted Kissing Samantha on the Lips during a Night of Partying. While its still UNCLEAR to me, as to WHY Lindsay is still spending time with a 'Friend'; one who played a significant role in her Drug Abuse and Alcoholism, circa Lindsays 2 Stints in Rehab, I am UnSure as to whether or not the relationship between the two is Romantic or Strictly Friendly.

Though I am a very Supportive fan of Lindsays, I WILL admit that her Kissing Samantha, Who is Openly Gay, does NOT surprise Me in the least bit. Lindsay has proven to me, over the past two years, that She is a LONELY young lady. Lindsay spends a lot of her time, jumping from relationship to relationship; engaging in meaningless Sex-Ca-Pades, with young men who dont care too much about her inner spirit. Many of Lindsays most recent relationships occured while She was still a patient in rehab, as well as during the months immediately following her release. Lindsay uses Sex and the 'Feeling' of being Loved, and/or In-Love, as a filler for the voids that exist within her Life, Heart and Soul.

At this point, while Lindsay is battling to revive her career, she is going to continue to act out, for its Only been a year, roughly, since she Crashed her Mercedez Benz, Checked herself into a Hospital, and Months Later, Fled after an assistant, who randomly quit her position, during a Beach Party. Lindsay is still putting the pieces of her life together, and ANYONE, at this point, Who displays any type of emotional comfort towards her, is going to receive levels of romantic attention, which otherwise, Lindsay may never share.

Ive NEVER cared too much for Samantha. Though she and I have never met, I just dont judge her as the type of person who has Lindsays Best Interests at Heart. I really Dont. She seems to have a hidden agenda, which, as I see it, could be, taking advantage of Lindsay, emotionally, during periods in her life, such as now. Lindsay is still extremely vulnerable.
