Janet's Past Two Studio LP's, DAMITA JO(March 2004) and 20.YO(SEPTEMBER 2006) have been DISAPPOINTING in regards to Sales and Commercial Numbers. HOWEVER, Damita Jo was a Sin.Sational Album, which simply received the Cold Shoulder from the Industry, in due part to that Over-Hyped and UnJust, SuperBowl SCANDAL/FIASCO.
On the Other Hand, Janets Beau, Jermaine Dupree, had TOO MUCH Influence over her 20.YO Album; adding an OverBite of Urban Flare that Juxtaposed the ICONIC Image and Sound of Janets Cross-Over, Cross-Cultural Appeal, with the Pedestrian Antics of Regular, MainStream, R&B/PoP Starlets. I was DISGUSTED to See and Hear Nelly and Khia on Janets Album Released Singles. HORRIFIC Career Move on Janets Part. ALL of her Fans, Who I Know, and Have Spoken to, AGREE, Whole Heartedly~
What I, along with MANY Others WANT from Janet at this Point, is the Woman and Entertainer Who doesnt SEEM so Pedestrian and Mundane. When Janet use to make RARE Appearances at Awards Shows and Other Red Carpet Events, it was an Industry and Public TREAT. The Moments, in themselves, were So So XCLusive and Widely Discussed. People were in Awe...Mezmorized of Sorts. Well...Ever Since She has Hooked up with Jermaine, She has LOST a Great deal of that 'IT' Factor. That DEFINITELY Dissapoints ME.
I Want Janets NEW 2008 Album, DISCIPLINE, to TRULY Reinvent Her as One of the Industry Legends, and Stage Icons. Though BEYONCE is the Reigning Ingenue of Fame-Face-Flash & Fortune, Janet has the Potential and 'Know How' to NOT Knock BeYonce, but to Indeed, Join the Ranks...Once again.
Im REALLY going to get Behind the Promotional Conductor Boost for the Release of this Janet Project. I Want her Sales to be Phenomenal...Much like Mariah did with 2005's, EMANCIPATION OF MIMI, following 2 Flopped Albums of her Own.
SIDENOTE: When We Say 'FLOPPED' for Janet, Mariah, Madonna, Mary, BeYonce...We Mean ONLY Selling Platinum Status; a feat that MOST R&B and POP acts can Only HOPE and DREAM of Achieving~
Its going to be quite DIFFICULT, However, for Janet to ReClaim...for Mariah ALSO Drops in February 2008; Janets NEW Record Label Mate, upon her departure from her Career Long Relationship with Virgin.
MADONNAS Next Studio LP Drops in March, and Miss. BeYonce returns in May.
SO...This is DEFINITELY Going to be a BATTLE to the Deaths of Musical, Commercial and Critical Acclaims for JANET and Our Other Female Fetale ICONS~
Im SO XCITED for the 1st and 2nd Quarters of Music in 2008. Im ACTUALLY going to See Janet on Tour this Go around. I have NEVER Seen her LIVE!~...and Shes already PROMISING to take BACK to the Stage~
